As a type of differential pressure flowmeter, the working principle of bend tube flowmeter is based on the inertia principle of fluid. When a fluid passes through a curved pipeline, it is forced to undergo circular motion due to constraints. This motion creates a pressure difference between the fluid on the inner and outer sides, which is related to the density, average flow velocity, and curvature radius of the fluid in circular motion. This process follows Newtons laws of motion, which are the laws that all objects in circular motion must follow. The accuracy level can reach level 1 or 1.5, and the curvature radius to diameter ratio R/D of the bend tube is required to be greater than 1.25. The bent pipe flowmeter, like the conventional orifice flowmeter, belongs to the category of differential pressure flowmeter. However, the way in which the bent pipe flowmeter generates differential pressure is different from that of the orifice flowmeter. The orifice plate generates differential pressure based on the scaling principle of the fluid, while the bent pipe sensor generates differential pressure based on the inertia principle of the fluid.
